That's only if I choose to not have yet another replacement sent, free of charge except for shipping at $20.00. And if the replacement part that was supposed to fix the display didn't work, I would be out the $29.99 + $12.99 + $10.00 (yeah, $10 miscellaneous fee on my invoice that I received after he had received my payment, it's listed as misc. So all in all, in the event the replacement didn't fix the issue, I would be out $140.98.

Twenty five percent of $59.99 is $15.00 plus $40.00, plus shipping at around $6.00. The Polaroid guy explained that "should the light thingy not work upon installation, I could send it back for a 25% restocking fee, another charge not to be lower than $40.00, and I would have to pay the return shipping." Let's do the math ($59.99 + $20.00 = $79.99). I said, "What the heck? By the way, how much is a replacement DVD player since that's broken, again, too?" I was told $29.99 for the part and $12.99 for the shipping. I contacted Polaroid this afternoon, told them of the issue, and they quoted a price of $59.99 for a replacement light box, $20.00 shipping. Last night, I went into our bedroom, turned on the TV (the second one purchased) and there was a blue light, sound, but no picture - completely black. But they were fairly inexpensive compared to other similar TVs. So now, we have two TV/DVD combos, same model, same brand, same issue. Is everything disposable these days?!Ībout five months later, that one stopped working correctly also. I know it's 6 years old but I had a Magnavox that was 23 years old before I 'upgraded' to this flat screen. Today I will be looking to find the result of the suit to see if they will replace my TV. Apparently there was a class action lawsuit filed because of the TVs catching fire. Thank goodness she was there to wake me! We quickly turned it off, made sure that there was no fire and I Googled it.
The screen went black and the sound still worked, like before but there wasn't any smoke last time. Last night I fell asleep watching TV and was awakened by my daughter because there were sizzling sounds and black smoke coming out of the top of the TV. Everything has been fine with the TV until last night. According to the internet, this is a known issue but it was cheaper than purchasing a new TV (at the time). I took it to a repair shop and paid right at $100 to get it repaired. Last year, the screen went black but the sound still worked. I purchased this TV on Black Friday in 2007.
